The Bahá'í Faith is a world religion whose purpose is to
unite all the races and peoples in one universal Cause and one common Faith.
Bahá'ís are the followers of Bahá’u’lláh, Who they believe
is the Promised One of all Ages. As you know, the traditions of almost every
people include the promise of a future when peace and harmony will be established
on earth and humankind will live in prosperity. We believe that the promised
hour has come and that Bahá’u’lláh is the great Personage Whose Teachings
will enable humanity to build a new world.
In one of His Writings, Bahá’u’lláh says:
That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest
instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples
in one universal Cause, one common Faith. (1)
The Source of Religion
The source of religion is God, our Creator. Throughout history He has sent
divine Messengers called Manifestations of God. They bring spiritual knowledge
that gives life to our souls. Through Their teachings and by Their example
the Manifestations of God awaken and develop humanity's spiritual life. Each
Manifestation brings a revelation from God that forms the basis of a new religion.

The Oneness of the Manifestations of God
There have been many Manifestations of God, including Abraham, Krishna, Moses,
Zoroaster, Buddha, Christ, Muhammad, the Báb, and Bahá'u'lláh.
They are not God in human form, but, like flawless mirrors, They perfectly
reflect His qualities. Each Manifestation has founded a new religion with
its own character, and outwardly each appears to differ from the others. Yet
all of the religions are part of the overall process through which God reveals
His will for humanity. The Manifestations of God differ only in the intensity
of Their revelation. They all teach the changeless Faith of God. Each brings
new social teachings suited for His time, but the basic spiritual message
never changes. The revelations of the Manifestations of God are like the chapters
of a book. All of them lead toward the current chapter, the revelation of
Bahá'u'lláh. (2)
The station of Bahá'u'lláh
Bahá'u'lláh's arrival is the fulfillment of many ancient prophecies.
Every earlier age has looked forward to, and prepared the way for, His coming.
His revelation is the fulfillment of a series of progressive revelations that
paved the way for the advent of the Kingdom of God on earth. He is the Promised
One of All Ages. The birth of His revelation has released tremendous spiritual
and creative energies throughout the world. (See Great
Day) These energies have given humanity the potential to attain a new
level in its collective development. Bahá'u'lláh has brought
the teachings that will enable the whole human race to become unified and
to achieve lasting, universal peace. (2)
